Museums aren’t community centers.
They’re centers for community.

Listening to, and securing buy-in from our clients’ staff, Board, constituents and supporters is an essential aspect of every project’s success. Regular, well-strategized community engagement programs form the core of our process.

We advocate ways to develop connections.

No matter what kind of planning work we perform, at each step of the process we employ different methods of creating community exchange, offering a variety of engagement formats for stakeholders, committees, community and team members to discover mutual understanding via sharing their diverse ideas, histories and knowledge.

Our job is to encourage dialogue and to allow community members their voices, while helping them to understand the roles and functions the museum must perform.

Diversity, equity and inclusion aren’t just buzzwords— they’re who we are.

We are a woman-owned small business with core team members that are male and female, Native American and white, Boomer and Millennial. We’ve built a culture of collaboration and inclusion within our team, and we model those values as we interact with our clients’ communities.

This spirit of equity has empowered MGMP to work with a broad range of cultural groups and constituencies, including planning for museums focused on Latino / Hispanic, African American, Indigenous, Jewish, and Asian American culture.

Our engagement process is uniquely tailored for every museum, and every community.

We work with you, your teams, and your constituents in a variety of formats, with each engagement tailored to the situation, the participants, and the discussion topics.

While our preferred method of engagement occurs via in-person meetings, workshops and Town Halls, we also perform virtual outreach to our client’s communities: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, online surveys, and custom web portals.

We’re not afraid to ask difficult questions, or tackle challenging subjects.

Whether in-person or virtual, we’ve learned that creating structured, focused presentations for each of our public engagement sessions is essential.

Our structured engagement process promotes successful outcomes because of careful meeting preparations, in which we work with the client leadership team to shape the presentations and guide dialogue to incorporate positive-outcome discussions of project-sensitive subjects or challenges.
